The Albanian Diaspora Forum (ADF) is an initiative of the Albanian Institute with the objective to foster unity among the Albanian diaspora communities. The purpose of this program is to nurture a sense of national identity among the people of Albanian origin living in the United States and beyond by providing access to Albanian cultural heritage, history and traditions. Act as catalyst for connecting communities, providing a forum where scholars, educators and other intellectual leaders can meet to generate innovative ideas and perspectives, so that we can all better understand our present time and influence its future course for better.
Diaspora and Diplomacy
Diaspora communities are in a unique position to build inter-cultural relations between people and nations and addressing challenges of today while shaping a better future for tomorrow. Our approach is peer-to-peer engagement as one of the most effective ways to improve people’s perception of each other and building trust – a key ingredient for economic growth and social progress. As a result, the Albanian Diaspora Forum initiative is highly beneficial for Albanians living at home and abroad and for strengthening our communities for a mutual benefit. Forging bonds by sharing the arts, information, ideas is a form of diplomacy in which we can all take part.
Culture is an indispensible force for creating a global dialogue. It’s time to release its full potential. We are doing our part.
Here are remarks of Secretary Hillary Clinton in 2011 at the Global Diaspora Forum, where the Albanian Institute was taking part along with other diaspora members in the U.S., highlighting the significance and the important role of the diaspora communities can play here in the U.S. and around the globe.
