Visar Morina is a Kosovo-born, Germany-based director and screenwriter known for his award-winning films and screenwriting work. He is recognized as a distinctive voice in contemporary European cinema. After honing his craft at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and working as an assistant at institutions such as Schauspiel Köln and Volksbühne Berlin, Morina gained early acclaim for his award-winning short films Death By Suffocation (2010) and Of Dogs and Wallpaper (2013), which was selected for the Locarno Film Festival.

He solidified his international reputation with his debut feature, Babai (2015), which swept the Munich Film Festival and earned him Best Director at Karlovy Vary. His psychological follow-up, Exile (2020), premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim. Most recently, Morina reached a new career milestone with Shame and Money (2026), which headlined the Sundance Film Festival and claimed the prestigious World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic.
